Bruce Chadwick was born and raised in Midland, Texas and his love for aquatics began at an early age. During his junior high and high school years, he began competitive swimming on the City of Midland swim team and then later on his high school varsity swim team. Bruce thoroughly enjoyed the television series SEA HUNT with Lloyd Bridges as ex-Navy frogman Mike Nelson. So when one of Bruce's high school swim teammates brought his scuba unit to a workout, Bruce didn't hesitate to take a puff from the regulator. Bruce's has had a love for compressed air ever since.
Another one of Bruce's childhood passions is magic tricks and stage illusions. As a Comedy Magician, Illusionist, and Sleight-of-Hand Artist, Bruce has made the trade his full-time vocation for over 30 years . Bruce also owns and operates the Illusion Warehouse party room and magic shop in south Fort Worth, the same location where the Scuba Bruce Diving officers are also located. See his special website at www.BruceChadwick.com and expect a few "magical surprises" if you decide to engage his services as an Instructor or trip advisor.
Bruce also specializes in the manufacture of illusion apparatus and has designed and fabricated hundreds of effects for the television and movie industries, theme parks, the Broadway stage, and for many various magicians worldwide. He has published several works on the psychology of illusion and is highly regarded among his peers as a creative consultant and expert in the field of illusion mechanics.
Bruce became a certified scuba diver during the time he was working as a special effects consultant for Warner Brothers Germany. The studio was filming a scene that might require him as an illusion consultant to also have scuba capability. Later he progressed through the PADI ranks of Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certifications through Lone Star Scuba in Fort Worth, Texas.
An Eagle Scout and Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow of the Boy Scouts of America, Bruce did his PADI Divemaster training at the BSA Florida Sea Base in Islamorada, Florida. His PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor training came under the acclaimed direction of E. K. Sowell at Diver's Depot in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Bruce and his wife Cindy met while diving. In fact Bruce was working as the Divemaster when she was taking her Open Water Diver certification. Two years later they were married while scuba diving about 20 feet underwater, at the Christ of the Deep statue in Key Largo, Florida.
